Reunion: Standard Rooftop

Hihi.  This weekend my good friend from college was in town.  What better place to celebrate than at a rooftop pool party?  We decided to head to the Standard Hotel in downtown LA.  We started off with some champagne and immediately got in the pool.  The weather was so nice and warm.  There were these water guns floating around so we obvs grabbed some.  Maybe had too much fun with them...

They also had a beer garden situation set up on one side with pretzels and hotdogs (sausages?).  Towards the end of the day we couldn't help but devour a few.  It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday.

Hihi.  It's been awhile since I've made an I want Wednesday post.  Since graduation season is upon us (maybe coming to a close?), I thought I'd make the perfect outfit to wear to a graduation party.  I love this dress from J.Crew!  I think its so fun and summery.  Black and white is also my favorite combo. I think I've posted these Zara sandals 100 times already, but it's because they are so versatile.

About that gold chain.  I was at the Grove a few weeks ago and stumbled into Topshop.  I found a gold chain necklace that looked like the one I posted, but it was $27.  I tried to find it on their website, but it wasn't there.  If you live near a Topshop or have better online shopping skillz than I do, you should save yourself like ~$15.  You can also find this same type of necklace on etsy.

Happy shopping!

Father's Day weekend!

Hihi.  For Father's Day, my family and I went down to San Diego.  The weather was gorgeous! On Sunday we went to the Seaport Village.  It's a cute little area with touristy shops near the water in downtown SD.  We stumbled upon this store. Sinfulicious. As soon as we walked in one of the sales ladies told us she was going to give us a spa treatment for free!  She took us over to these sinks and put some yummy smelling scrub on our hands.  She said our hands were going to feel amazing afterwards.  After we scrubbed she sprayed some oil on our hands that smelled so good.  We left with super smooth hands that smelled like yummy amazingness.  We even made my dad and brother do the "spa treatment".  I don't think anyone fell in love with the products except me.

I kept smelling my hands for the rest of the afternoon.  I liked the scent so much, I went back to the store and bought the oil.  Can you say sucker?

Hope everyone had a lovely Father's Day!

Two Chainz

Zara blazer
H&M shirt (old) similar here
Urban Outfitter shorts
Zara shoes
Banana Republic gold chain
Forever 21 gold chain

Hihi.  I think my blog posts from now on will be rap inspired.  I'm wearing two chains, get it? If you don't know, now you know.

A little while ago someone asked me where I got my shorts from.  I got them from Urban Outfitters, but I can't find the exact pair online.  They are Levi's brand, but I got them from that section of the store where you're not sure if what you are buying is new or used.   I guess the whole store is kind of like that.  I'm pretty sure these shorts were "vintage" aka used.  Anyway, when I bought them they were rolled over/cuffed.  I wasn't down.  I took a pair of scissors and cut them to the length I wanted them to be.  Then I made some more cuts. Then I washed them and they were kind of perfect.  So I guess I made myself a pair of custom shorts.  You should try it!

Some advice: don't experiment with a super expensive pair of shorts.  I don't know why, but some jean shorts are like $100.  If I'm paying that much for jean shorts, you best believe I'm not cutting them myself.  They should fit you like a glove if you're spending that kind of money.  Also, maybe take your shorts to a tailor to have them cut.  Even though altering my shorts was fun, one side might be shorter than the other.  I pretend like no one can tell.

Be different ;) (get it?) Ok. I'll stop now.

My Best Friend's Wedding!

Hihi.  This weekend my best friend from high school/elementary school/preschool got married! I don't know how to explain it, but it was a happy/sad day.  It was so crazy being at her house, where I have had countless slumber parties, knowing I probably won't be going over there anymore because she is starting a new life with her hubby!  Like I said, happy/sad.  Alright, enough with the mushy stuff.

I felt like I was getting ready for my own wedding.  My friend told us all to go over to help her get ready before she headed to the church.  Obviously, I wanted to look nice and I didn't want to show up in jeans, because some people were going to be wearing a wedding dress.  I didn't want to be under dressed.  I also wanted to get my hair done before the wedding, but not too early in the day because my hair doesn't hold any type of hair style for very long.  So I got ready, went to her house to watch her get ready and have photos taken, then literally ran to my car and drove to my hair appointment.  I had a nice little break at the hair salon with some wine.  Then went back home for a quick outfit change and finally to the church.  Phew!  Here are some pics from the day :)

Makeup Monday

Nars Mata Hari blush
Clinique High impact mascara
Nars Turkish Delight lip gloss
Mac Speed Dial cremesheen
Forever21 gold chain
Forever21 sunglasses

Hihi.  Last week, the time had come.  You know that time when you can't scrape any more lip gloss out of the bottle?  It was time to replenish my makeup supply.....

If you are as indecisive as me, this can be a pretty daunting task.  Picking out the right shade of pink can cause an anxiety attack at the MAC counter at the mall.  My best friends wedding was right around the corner and the Maybelline blush I bought from Target, as a sort of band-aid on my restocking situation, just wasn't cutting it anymore.

Surprisingly, this trip to the makeup counter wasn't too stressful.  I realize that switching things up isn't really my thing.  Also, having a more adventurous sister comes in pretty helpful in these situations.  I am pretty used to using her makeup when she is around because I get bored of the colors and shades that I always use.  Because summer is basically here in LA, I decided to get the Mata Hari blush from Nars because I get pretty tan in the summer and the Orgasm blush makes my face too orange.  This color gives a nice pop of pink on your cheeks.   I like the Turkish Delight lip gloss because I don't really like color on my lips and it's pretty close to having nothing on.  It's also good for mixing with other colors, in my opinion.  I got the Speed Dial lipstick for everyday wear at work.  The nars lipgloss is too dead of a color when you're already feeling dead at work.

I needed some accessories for this wedding so I stopped by F21.  I always have fun in their jewelery section.  It always amazes me that you can buy sunglasses for $5.80, so I bought a pair.

Happy Monday!
