HiHi.  My cousin has been telling me about this Richard Simmons work out class for awhile now.  Since we both had some free time this week, I finally decided to check out the class.  I didn't know what to expect.  My cousin had warned me that Richard is CRAZY.  My cousin isn't he type to use that term loosely, so I was a little worried.

When we arrived at the Slimmons studio, I was a little nervous because I am no athlete.  People of all ages and sizes started to walk in and my mind was a little more at ease.  I started to get nervous waiting for Richard Simmons to arrive, I'm not sure why.  Finally, he arrived!  He looked insane/awesome with his eyeball covered leggings and mesh rhinestone shirt.  He went around the room and greeted everyone.  When it was my moms turn he stopped and stared at her and said, "you're like a mermaid, that's how fucking gorgeous you are".  I literally died from laughter.

Then he blasted music and we effing jazzercized for an hour straight.  There was also a weights portion and  a little bit of abs.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  You sweat your face off and can't stop laughing while you're working out.  Richard periodically stops the music during your workout to yell/encourage you. It's like watching and being in a Broadway show starring Richard Simmons.

If you live in LA you HAVE to go to this class.  Even if you're in town for a few days, it's definitely a fun way to spend an hour.  It's really nice that the classes are cheap too. (only $12!)

Ina Garten's Watermelon Mojitos!

Hihi.  This year I had a pretty low key Memorial Day Weekend.  I ended up just hanging around my pool and working on my tan.  My mom has Ina Garten's, How Easy is That cookbook and inside there is this recipe for watermelon mojitos.  I always eye this recipe, but never attempt to make it.  It seemed pretty easy and I had all the ingredients, so I gave it a try.  I thought it would be the perfect drink to sip by the pool.

The recipe calls for simple syrup.  My mom makes this on the regular for the armenian desserts that she makes.  But her simple syrup has some rose water in it.  I wasn't sure if it was going to make the mojito taste weird, but it gave the mojito such a nice armenian and tasty twist ;)

Here is the recipe:

30 large fresh mint leaves, coarsely torn by hand
3 to 4 thick slices fresh watermelon
12 ounces light rum, such as Bacardi
1/2 cup simple syrup
6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (3 limes)
Sprigs of mint and spears of watermelon, for serving

Use a mortar and pestle to mash the mint leaves. Remove and discard the rind and seeds of the watermelon. Put the fruit into a food processor fitted with the steel blade and puree. Put the mashed mint into a large pitcher with 2 cups of pureed watermelon, the rum, simple syrup, and lime juice and stir to combine. Pour the mixture into a pitcher for serving.

Place ice cubes in 6 glasses and pour the mojito mixture into the glasses. Garnish with sprigs of fresh mint and spears of watermelon. Serve ice cold.

The recipe says it will make 6 glasses, but mine barely made 5.   That might be because I poured out too much or because I don't know how to measure watermelon correctly.  Either way it tasted great! Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Ready for Summer!

Victoria's Secret bikini top
Jean shorts
Sunglasses similar here and here
Target sandals similar here

Hihi.  Last week I might have gone a little overboard with the online shopping.  I thought since summer is almost here I should buy myself a new bikini.  I went to because this is where I usually start off my bikini hunt.  I don't usually like buying bathing suits from there because everyone ends up having the same one.  I saw this sequined rainbow bathing suit and fell in love.  Then! I saw it was on sale.  Obviously, I had to get it.  For $30 I don't care if everyone has the same one :)

Happy shopping!

Instagram Update

 [Getty for Mother's Day]

Hihi.  I know I have been MIA for a little while.  Sorry! I thought I would update you guys on what's been happening on Instagram.  Last week I found these amazing peonies at Trader Joe's.  I can't tell you how excited I was to find them.  I was rushing to grab lunch when I went into Trader Joe's and saw these flowers.  I was so excited to find them I forgot about lunch and just grabbed them.  By the time I got back to work they had already opened/bloomed? By the time I got home they had already died.  Now I know I need to buy peonies when they are still in their little ball phase.  I was also excited to find the flowers because I know my mom loves them and it was mother's day.

We spent mother's day at the Getty.  I love the Getty.  I want to live at the Getty.  I found these awesome chocolates at their gift shop.  Thought it was appropriate...

Happy Monday!

That New New

J. Crew Shirt (equally cute color)
Ray Ban Sunglasses
Sperry Shoes
J Brand Jeans

Hihi.  I've been wanting these metallic gold Sperry's for 100 years now.  I refused to pay $98 at J.Crew plus shipping.  I have been watching their site like a hawk to see if the shoes go on sale.  I was so excited when I got an email saying 30% off plus free shipping!! Great deal right? No. The shoes didn't qualify for the discount.  I decided to forget about them when I was at the mall and decided to just go check them out.  I tried them on and decided F. it i'll just buy it.  The lady helping me said if you're a student you get 15% off.  Since I look like I'm 16 I just said yes.  Then at the register she started ringing me up and the shoes were on sale!!!!!!!! And she gave me the 15% OFF! I was just as confused as the sales lady.  I grabbed my shoes and peaced out.

When I told my mom and sister what I bought they decided to buy the same shoes.  So we went back to J. Crew and got 3 pairs of the same shoes (rolling eyes).  Life would be so much better if we were all the same size....

While we were attacking the sales lady asking her to grab every possible size shoe for my mom and sister I pulled this pink chambray (blogging has taught me new words) from the sale section.  I think J. Crew's clothes have a weird fit.  Or maybe I have a weird body.  Either way usually their stuff doesn't work out for me, but this shirt did.  So I got it.

Happy Spring Shopping!!

6. YSL Sac de Jour
7. Stella&Dot Necklace
8. Kitchenaid Mixer
9. Teacups

Hihi.  With mother's day just around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to make a gift guide for y'all.  I think flowers for mom is the best option.  I guess it depends on what your mom likes, but I know my mom would take flowers over anything else.  I don't know why, but when it comes to gifts for mom I always think of PJ's.  I've been wanting these JCrew pajamas for myself, but I think it would be a good mother's day gift as well.  I was at Nordstroms this weekend and I saw this gorgeous YSL purse.  If this purse is in your budget I think its the perfect chic handbag for mom.  Dogeared makes dainty necklaces with sweet sayings.  They have some really cute necklaces for mom.  I like this pearl necklace that they have and it has a sweet message too.  My mom has been obsessed with getting a vintage tea set.  I haven't been able to find a reasonably priced set.  Anyone know of a place?

Happy shopping!

Last weekend I decided to check out Lemonade.  I've been wanting to try it out, but never made the trip out.  It's a cute little cafe with lots of yummy salads. Everything tasted fresh and their lemonades were sooo good.  I got the cucumber mint lemonade after trying every single flavor.  I feel like its the perfect place to grab something to eat on a hot day.  I hope this gloomy weather disappears!  I need more weekends like this.

Late Morning

Hihi.  I had a late start today.  Thought I'd share my breakfast with you. Breakfast is a fairly new concept to me.  Not being a morning person is an understatement, so you can image how I was never in the mood for breakfast growing up.  Lately,  I've been trying to eat healthy.  I'm usually the queen of junk food and my usual breakfast is an eggo thick and fluffy waffle with nutella smothered all over.  These days my breakfast is vanilla yogurt from Trader Joe's with cereal and fruit.  It's surprisingly filling, but a pain to put together/eat when you are in a rush.  Since I was taking my sweet time this morning on my way to work I had enough time to put just what I wanted into my little parfait.

Hope everyone had  a good morning!
